Iceland/Island

One of the hot pots we looked forward to the most was the biggest disappointment.  It's situated up a river valley off the Ring Road and has three cement walls built up against a cliff with hot water flowing directly into it.  It's not run by any municipality or park so the facilities are not able to accommodate the thousands of tourists who visit and it was the one place in the whole country that was actually trashed.  Not surprisingly, it didn't seem like there were any locals there.
It was meant to be the last pool we'd visit, but the next day we had a little time and a rainy afternoon persuaded us to go to the town pool where we were staying and enjoyed it with a half a dozen locals, mostly senior citizens as the kids had started school.
