Donut Swim

Gail and some friends started a tradition a few years ago of a swim in Cayuga Lake from Long Point State Park to the Aurora Farmers Market.  At the market, baked goods and coffee are available, notably, donuts from an Amish vendor.

They thought the plan hit a snag this year and that they'd get to the market too early to buy donuts.  So Gail made a batch to take and enjoy at the end of the swim.  Or kayak in my case.

Nice group, and the water didn't look too rough at Long Point.

It got quite a bit wavier once away from shore.  Everyone made it without incident, and once again, I was impressed with how my kayak handled.

Connie was the least confident about making the swim.  In addition to the rough seas, it would be her longest and in an unfamiliar place.  With Gail's assurances that she'd be fine, and knowing I was there in the kayak to support her if she tired, she persevered and made it without incident.
