We got to the cottage we rent in Lansing at the end of June. It was our fourth trip and once again, a treasure. I am starting to envision this boat house behind our house (on the neighbor's property- more space) rather than having it blow over. Glad it made it through a couple more gales while I was in it.
Rainbows appeared the first three days. Two evenings and a morning. We're both a little camera shy sometimes.
We had some dramatic weather. Wind, waves, sun, and clouds kept us entertained.
White caps most of a day were fun to look at, but the kids were bummed they didn't die down enough to get out on the kayaks.
They were enough to pop up some boards on the neighbor's dock. The jet ski also floated away but was lassoed and tied to a tree by another neighbor. It seemed OK despite an afternoon of being driven onto the rocks.
Gail got out for a couple trips in her kayak. This was supposed to be video of her intentionally capsizing to practice getting back into the boat, but I don't know how to use a camera. Consider it a captured frame.
The storm filled our bay with lake grass. I took it out to sea and dumped it. Anybody ever see this cheerful movie?
While we stay there, we've been fortunate to not have to go anywhere by car until this year. I wanted to go to the IHS graduation, and Gail took Roxy to Trick Dog final exams. I avoided leaving by car on a technicality when I kayaked to Taughannock and caught a ride to Ithaca with a coworker. The next day, I kayaked to Frontenac.
Two IHS graduates. When I told Tin Cho the week we rent the cottage fell on my last week of work this year, she pleaded, "But we're still getting it, right?" Yes, we did.
The disappointment of not being able to kayak doesn't show all that much.
Visitors on a calmer day. Kayaks, paddle boards and swimming.
Remember to check the settings on the camera when it hasn't been used in 11 months.
