Let's hear it for getting out of the hospital! Mary Ellen, eldest girl in our family, has been in the hospital far too long. An expected two-day stay in Sayre after a biopsy of a brain tumor turned into five days in the Robert Packer ICU followed by six days in the Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Unit in Ithaca thanks to serious seizures the night before the scheduled biopsy. Both units are stellar, but the hospital is no place to get healthy. That takes a home. She's heading home in a couple days and will get to work immediately making up for any regrets she's had about her life so far, like not learning to play banjo.
