One of the most treasured days in our area is Women Swimmin' for Hospicare. Gail had to take a break from the Kayak Safety Team this year, so she switched back to being a swimmer. This didn't relieve her of being part of the team that decides if the swim is going to happen or not. All conditions were excellent, some claimed the best ever, and not a HAB was to be found. She and a couple other swimmers who made the decision were then transported over to the west side of the lake. Things were reversed this year and they swam from the Girl Scout Camp at Comstock, 1.2 miles to Myers Park. Myers is much better suited for the event than the Yacht Club, and after a couple logistical adjustments will be perfect.
Gail was in the first pod to swim and reached the dock before much of a crowd gathered to welcome swimmers.
It's a beautiful sight to see all those swimmers and boaters.
Amy and Nancy swam together again, as they've done from the beginning.
Thanks to all who donated. Over $650,000 was raised by this "one-day" event.
