The annual fundraiser for Hospicare, Women Swimmin' had a slight change of plans this year. It was too windy and wavy for so many women to safely swim across Cayuga Lake, and a last-minute decision was made to do an out-and-back from the Yacht Club. Gail continued in her role on the Kayak Safety Team and as an experienced lake swimmer weighed in on the call to alter the plans. She's in the blue kayak over the bow of the green canoe. As always, it was a huge success and raised over $600,000 towards end-of-life care for those in our community who need it. Thanks to all who volunteered and donated.
Nancy and Amy swam, as they do every year, and Beth was signed up to be their escort boater, as she does every year. Without crossing the lake, there were no escort boaters, but most of them stuck around to line the course. I took the year off from boating and helped with set-up.
If it wasn't for the dates on the shirts, you couldn't tell which picture is eleven years older than the other.
